Delhi: 12-hour water supply disruption on September 20; check details
Several areas in Delhi will face a 12-hour water supply disruption on Saturday, September 20, due to repair work at the Chandrawal Water Works. The shutdown, which begins at 11:00am is necessary to fix a leakage in the "500mm dia Rising Main emanating from Chandrawal Water Works inside premises of Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial," according to an official statement.
Areas affected by water supply disruption
The areas that will be affected by the water supply disruption include Civil Lines, Hindu Rao Hospital and nearby locations, Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar and surrounding areas. Other impacted regions are Karol Bagh, Paharganj and NDMC areas, Old and New Rajinder Nagar, Patel Nagar (East and West), Baljeet Nagar, Prem Nagar, Inderpuri and nearby areas. Parts of the Cantonment and South Delhi will also experience this temporary water shortage.
Building collapse in Karol Bagh
In a separate incident, a building collapse in Delhi's Karol Bagh area has resulted in three fatalities and 14 injuries. The multi-story building reportedly collapsed around 7:00am to 7:30am on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central M Harsh Vardhan stated that "an old building of approximately 25 square yards' area has collapsed." He added that legal action will be taken as per the law.
Rescue operations underway at collapse site
Rescue operations are currently underway at the site of the building collapse. "So far 15 people have been rescued, operation is underway," said DCP Vardhan. He also mentioned that it was a four-story building with an additional room on the fifth floor and there are fears of one more person being trapped under the rubble.
