Delhi: UPSC aspirant, job-fraud victim, kidnaps child to recover losses
A UPSC aspirant in Delhi became the victim of a job fraud and lost Rs. 4.5L. He would frequently visit Subhash Vihar Chowk, purportedly where he had met his scammer, to search for him. But during such a search last week, he came across a five-year-old boy, the son of a prosperous family. Inspired by Bollywood films, he decided to kidnap him.
Saifi, looking for government job, fell victim to a racket
27-year-old Asif Saifi, a native of Dadri, had completed his M.Tech from a Himachal college and was an engineer. He also used to teach at a private university, but was looking for a government job and preparing for civil services. During his search, he fell victim to a job racket and lost money. But while searching for the racketeer, he found the boy instead.
Inspired by Bollywood, he hatched plan to kidnap the boy
Last week, Saifi saw him playing outside his home near Subhash Vihar Chowk. He found out his family owns a school, medical store and dairy shop. He befriended the boy and started conducting a recce. He also obtained his father's number by pretending to be a neighbor. On Monday, he lured the boy to a park, then kidnapped him and took him to Dadri.
Police zeroed in on Saifi with CCTV footage
Yesterday morning, Saifi borrowed a stranger's mobile to make a ransom call and demanded Rs. 20L. When police traced it, the owner claimed innocence. But by the time he made the second ransom call in the evening, police had zeroed in on him, who had been captured on CCTV during the first call. He was arrested and the boy rescued from an abandoned building.
