Delhi-residents brace yourselves! Temperature to hit 44-degrees Celsius on Tuesday
For residents of Delhi, the days ahead are going to be much hotter than they would have expected. The scientists at the India Meteorological Department have predicted that temperature might touch 44 degree Celsius by Tuesday. A senior official of the regional weather forecasting centre (RWFC) said there is minimal chance of respite from scorching heat in the coming week.
Lack of moisture behind expected rise of temperature
The official credited clear sky and lack of moisture for the projected sharp rise in mercury. On Saturday, the maximum temperature at the National Capital was noted at 41.4 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. The minimum temperature was 26.4 degrees Celsius. On May 11, the temperature was 42.8 degrees Celsius, highest day temperature in Delhi this year.
Storm brings temperature down by seven degrees on Saturday
The dust storm on Saturday, that was triggered by the eastward shift of a cyclonic circulation, brought down the temperature by seven degrees. "The temperature just before storm stood at 41.2 degrees Celsius. It dropped to 34.4 degrees soon after the storm passed," an official added. The moisture-laden winds led to feeble rains in NCR, but it doesn't seem to be happening again any time soon.
