Delhi: Student stabs senior after morning assembly in government school
In a government school in Delhi's Krishna Nagar, a class XI student was stabbed multiple times by his junior on Thursday, after the school morning assembly. The victim was rushed to Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan, where he is undergoing treatment. He is out of danger. A case on charges of attempt to murder was filed against the 18-year-old Class X accused.
Teachers tried keeping accused away from victim, after incident
Reportedly, the accused was supposed to stay in class during the assembly. But he stood in the queue. Just as the kids were dispersing after the assembly, the accused stopped the victim, took out a knife and stabbed him. Staff members and teachers pulled the accused away from the victim. But the Class XI student had injuries on his arm and back.
Victim and accused were known to be aggressive
The brother of the victim said the boys had a fight on Wednesday. "We do not know the reason for the fight but he told me he had an argument with this boy," the brother said. DCP (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav said they weren't informed about this. Police sources said the boys had a reputation of being aggressive and fought with others in school.
School says impossible to check bags of students
When questioned about how the accused brought a knife inside the school, a staff member said, "It is practically impossible to keep a check on what students bring in their bags." After the incident, locals are obviously concerned about safety inside the school. A resident Kamlesh Goel said he was fortunate his kids didn't go to the school, where such an incident happened.
How safe are schools these days? Not a lot, actually
This violent incident is not the first one in our schools. After last year's shocking murder of seven-year-old in Ryan International School, a Class X student was accused of stabbing his junior in Vadodara school in June. The victim didn't survive. The same month a Class IX student was found dead in the washroom of an army school in Kodagu district, Karnataka.
