Jaish terrorists in Delhi, airports in North India on alert
In an alarming piece of news, four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists have reportedly entered Delhi to carry out a terror attack. A red alert was sounded late on Wednesday after security agencies received this information. All the "highly-motivated" terrorists are said to be heavily-armed. Notably, the special cell of Delhi police and sleuths conducted raids in nine locations across the capital. Here are more details.
Terrorists might carry out attack during festive season
The terrorists intend to "harm" Delhi in retaliation of the Centre's move of removing Article 370 and bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir into two UTs. The four terrorists, two of whom are said to be Pakistan-based, infiltrated Delhi last week, reports TOI. The deputy commissioners of police (DCP) of all 15 districts have been directed to increase security at vital spots.
Two suspects have been picked up for questioning
Around 9 pm, raids were conducted at nine crowded locations, including Seelampur, Jamia Nagar, and two areas near Paharganj. At least two suspects have been picked up for questioning. Naturally, security at railway and metro stations as well as markets and malls has been intensified. Cops are also combing guesthouses, hotels, and PG accommodations to look for suspects.
Earlier, IAF bases were put on orange alert
The "red alert" in Delhi comes just days after an "orange" one was sounded at important Indian Air Force (IAF) bases in Srinagar, Awantipora, Jammu, Pathankot, and Hindon. Information received by the Defense Ministry and intelligence agencies claimed that Jaish is planning an attack on IAF bases. Apparently, a module of 8-10 terrorists has been "tasked" with carrying out an attack on these bases.
Few days ago, Bipin Rawat said terrorists are "waiting"
Just last month, Army Chief Bipin Rawat had said terror launch pads have been re-activated and nearly 500 terrorists are waiting to infiltrate India. "Depending on the weather pattern they keep moving. As the temperature keeps falling, they move. Figures keep fluctuating depending on where terrorists are. We have taken measures and put in more troops along LoC," he had said.
