What's the story

In a horrific incident, a man was stabbed 14 times in west Delhi's Sagar Pur area on Sunday in what appears to be a case of alcohol-fuelled revenge. The attack was carried out by the victim's brother's friends, and at the time of writing, they had not yet been arrested. The victim is in ICU, fighting for his life. Here's more.

Argument

The accused and the victim got into an argument

The incident took place on Sunday evening when a bunch of people were drinking outside the house of the victim, one Mangat Gupta. Reportedly, Gupta repeatedly asked the people to not drink outside the house, but to no avail. Having failed at persuasion, Gupta then snatched the liquor bottle from them and broke it after an argument. That didn't sit well with the people.

Stabbing

The accused later returned and stabbed Gupta till he collapsed

The people in question were Gupta's brother, Sangat's friends. When Gupta broke their liquor bottle, they allegedly threatened him with dire consequences. Keeping their word, they returned later, dragged Gupta and his brother out of their house, and allegedly stabbed the former till he collapsed. Sangat also suffered knife injuries on his arms and hands when he tried to intervene and stop the violence.

Aftermath

Gupta's family have demanded that arrests be made; investigations underway

Following the violent attack, Gupta was rushed to a hospital and admitted to the ICU, where he is currently fighting for his life. Meanwhile, his family staged a protest in front of cops, demanding that the accused be arrested for the violent, unprovoked attack. As it stands, police are currently questioning Sangat in a bid to identify the accused.
