Delhi man arrested for kidnapping, brutalizing minor for 24 hours
A man has been arrested in Delhi for allegedly kidnapping an eight-year-old girl and subjecting her to hours of brutality. The child was abducted from the Kotla Mubarakpur area on May 6, and was rescued by the police nearly 24 hours later, bearing physical signs of abuse. The victim, originally from Nepal, was rushed to the hospital for treatment following her rescue.
Accused's motive and police's swift action unveiled
During interrogation, the accused, identified as Arjun, alias Mohammed Umar, confessed to the crime and disclosed his motive. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan mentioned that Umar crafts small toys of glass and had come to Kotla to collect glass, where he noticed the girl playing and kidnapped her. The police were alerted about the kidnapping by the girl's father, leading to multiple teams being formed for a swift response.

The accused is believed to have committed similar acts in the past. Police sources claimed that the defendant shows signs of a psychopathic nature and maintains a reclusive lifestyle. "There are no criminal antecedents found of the accused person. However, efforts are on to know his involvement in the same nature of crime in the past," said Chauhan added.
