Delhi: Man sexually, financially exploited women after promising marriage
A 41-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman and duping another after creating fake profiles on matrimonial websites, police said on Thursday. A woman, working in the health sector, was contacted by one Siddharth Walia alias Anurag Mendiratta through a matrimonial website. He told her that he was working at a senior position in a reputed media house in Mumbai.
Woman also gave Rs. 6 lakh to the accused
The man started talking to her over the phone and via social media and lied to the victim that he was shifting to the UK for his father's treatment. The woman later transferred an amount of Rs. 6 lakh to the accused, police said. When the victim realized that she was being cheated, the accused stopped taking her calls or responding to her messages.
Accused sexually exploited another woman from CR Park
Police said that the accused was later arrested and on being interrogated, the accused reportedly told the police that he had duped another woman from CR Park in New Delhi, and had also sexually assaulted her.
