Delhi: Five-year-old rescued from kidnappers after 10 days
A day before Republic Day, two bike-borne assailants staged a daring kidnapping: they intercepted a school bus near Vivekanand School in Dilshad Gardens, shot at the driver and escaped with a Class 1 student. Ten days later, police have managed to rescue the five-year-old from Ghaziabad. One of the suspects was killed in the ensuing gunfight and another injured. A third has been nabbed.
A daring crime in broad daylight amid tight security
The incident took place on January 25 morning, when the bus was near Vivekanand School close to GTB Enclave. The helmet-wearing men came on a black bike and stopped the bus. When the driver resisted, they shot him. They entered the bus, grabbed the boy in front of his sister and about 20 others, and escaped. They had demanded a ransom of Rs. 70L.
One kidnapper killed, another injured, a third arrested
Police managed to locate a man who was supplying them information and learnt that the kidnappers were keeping the boy in a Ghaziabad flat. They laid a trap near Loni border, but Ravi, one of the kidnappers, saw them and opened fire. Cops retaliated. Ravi died, Pankaj was injured and Nitin arrested. A policeman was hit too, but was saved by his bulletproof jacket.
