A fire officer was seriously injured during an operation to douse a fire that broke out today on the top floor of a four-story building in Lajpat Nagar's busy Central Market in New Delhi, officials said.
The injured fire officer has been taken to the Safdarjung Hospital, according to a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official.

Officer injured as cylinder exploded when he was dousing fire
"The call about fire was received at 8:55am and 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot," the DFS official said.
"A fire officer got injured as a cylinder exploded while he was on duty there," he said, adding that he suffered burn injuries to his face and hands from the blaze.
The fire was controlled by 9:50am and an investigation is underway.
