
Tuesday was Delhi's hottest day; but today may be hotter
What's the story
Delhi recorded its hottest day of the year on Tuesday at a sweltering 37.1 degrees Celsius.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature was 1.1 degrees above normal for this time of the year.
The Ridge monitoring station also recorded a higher maximum temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius, a major deviation from seasonal norms by nearly five degrees Celsius.

During the day, humidity in Delhi varied between 22% and 59%, and the minimum temperature settled at a cooler 16 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, however, temperatures may get much higher during the day, the IMD said.
The IMD has predicted clear skies for Wednesday with maximum temperatures likely to reach up to 39 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature was 17.7 degrees Celsius, a tad above this season's average.
Air quality
Delhi's air quality remains poor
Delhi's air quality, meanwhile, continues to be 'poor,' said the Central Pollution Control Board. The Air Quality Index (AQI) at 4:00pm was a worrying 234.
An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'.
However, Delhi's air quality is set to improve soon, says the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi.
