    Delhi-shocker: Elderly woman, physically-challenged daughter murdered inside home

    What's the story

    In a chilling incident, an elderly woman and her physically-mentally challenged daughter were found dead at their Guru Hari Kishan Nagar residence near Paschim Vihar, Delhi, on Saturday morning.

    The woman identified as Shashi Talwar, lived with her daughter Nidhi, at their DDA colony apartment.

    A case has been registered at Miyanwali Nagar police station and an investigation is underway.

    Details of murder of mother and daughter are chilling

    The body of the woman was found on the kitchen floor with her throat slit. The daughter's body was found on the bed in her bedroom.

    Police believed the daughter was attacked with a blunt object on her head.

    Her hands were tied with a blue dupatta and she was gagged with a green one. There was a pillow on her face too.

    Details

    Domestic help finds bodies, raises alarm

    The murder came to light when the domestic help Sumitra rang the bell in the morning. She rang the bell at 9 AM, and when no one responded she went to another house to work.

    When Sumitra returned to Talwar's residence and no one answered the door, again, she went to another end of the house.

    She saw the bodies and raised an alarm.

    Investigation

    Police probing all angles including revenge

    Till late night, the motive of murder couldn't be ascertained.

    Police ruled out the possibility of sexual assault, but are probing all angles including property/personal dispute, failed robbery attempt and 'revenge'.

    The investigating officers believe murderers were known to the family as they found three cups of tea and biscuits.

    The jewelry worn by women was untouched, and so was cash and other valuables.

    Shashi had two sons, none living with her

    Police are going through 8 CCTV cameras in the area to nab the accused. Shashi was dependent on the family pension of her husband. She had two sons, one lived in Canada and another in Mumbai.
