Delhi: Drunk man sets 18 vehicles on fire, FIR registered
In a bizarre and equally shocking incident, a drunk man set vehicles on fire in Delhi's Madangir area on Tuesday. The accused said to be in his mid-20s, set 18 vehicles ablaze including four cars. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC. The accused is at large and efforts are on to nab him, reports said. Here's more.
He opened fuel pipe of bikes, set them on fire
The man's actions were caught on camera. Reportedly, a video showed him opening fuel pipe of motorcycles. As a result, petrol overflowed from the tanks of the bikes. He then set them ablaze by lighting a matchstick. A senior officer said cars which were parked nearby also caught fire. He set 14 two-wheelers and four cars on fire.
Many vehicles were completely gutted
Police received a call about the incident at 3:05 AM on Tuesday. They rushed to the spot and doused the fire. According to police, eight two-wheelers and two cars were completely gutted in the incident whereas six motorcycles and two cars were partially affected.
Meanwhile, Delhi has turned into a gas chamber
While on one hand vehicles are being set on fire, air quality in Delhi is deteriorating. On Tuesday, a day before Diwali, air quality was said to be 'very poor', as winds flew from the areas where stubble burning hasn't stopped. Pollution watchdog CPCB recommended banning entry of heavy vehicles in Delhi. The Supreme Court had earlier said put a check on burning crackers.
