Harassed by auto-driver, girl waits for cops for an hour
An auto driver accused of harassing a student was arrested by Delhi Police on Friday after the victim narrated her ordeal on Twitter. In the now-viral tweet, the girl slammed the Delhi Police for its inefficiency to help her despite repeated calls. The girl alleged that she made three PCR calls, and when no action was taken she let the accused go.
Drunk auto-driver grabs students' hand
The 22-year final year student of Jamia Millia Islamia was looking for an auto at 6:30 PM, to go to Paharganj, outside New Delhi metro station. The now-arrested auto-driver, Khurshid, said the ride would cost Rs. 200. Since he was visibly drunk, the girl walked past him. However, he followed her and grabbed her hand, the girl alleged.

Further, the girl alleged she dragged the drunken man to the Police post opposite gate number 1 of the metro station but found it was latched from outside. Few people had gathered by then and she dialed the number written on the booth. Someone from the receiving end said help will reach her in five minutes but no one came after almost an hour.
After Police inaction, girl beats harasser herself
"For a good 45-50 minutes, I waited for the Police to come help me but they did not," she said. She wrote the auto-driver mocked her. Frustrated with what was happening, the girl picked a stick and thrashed the driver herself.

After receiving flak, police arrest accused, suspend officials
After brouhaha, the Delhi Police took cognizance of the matter. Parvaiz Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways), said Khurshid was arrested and a case under IPC section 354A (sexual harassment) was registered. "Head Constable Chanderbhan, to whom the call was made, and Investigating Officer ASI Shibu, to whom the call was assigned, have been suspended for a delay in response," he said.
