Delhi Police bust 'Dhoom'-inspired gang of burglars
A gang of thieves, who carried out bike thefts and burglaries drawing inspiration from Bollywood blockbuster 'Dhoom' and Hollywood movies, has been busted in Delhi. Police has seized sports bikes, jewelry, mobile phones and laptops from the gang members who operated in the Mayur Vihar area. On April 2, a police team caught one of them red-handed when he locked himself inside a house.
Police laid several traps to nab other members of gang
During interrogation, the burglar revealed that his gang, which has young adults and juveniles as its members, was inspired by Dhoom and other Hollywood action movies, police said. They then laid several traps to nab the other members of gang. On Tuesday evening, a Mandawali Police Station's team intercepted five other members of the gang on two motorcycles after a short chase.
Two women who used to buy stolen jewelry also nabbed
A tip-off from those arrested then led to the arrest of four other gang members. Explaining the gang's modus operandi, police said they would steal bikes using a set of master keys they possessed. Further interrogation of the accused led to another major breakthrough in the form of apprehension of two ladies, who used to buy stolen gold jewelry from them, police said.
