#CBSEClass12Results: Cook's daughter Sana Niyaz tops Delhi government-schools with 97.6%
Sana Niyaz, the daughter of a cook at an Old Delhi restaurant, has emerged the topper of all the Delhi government schools in the CBSE Class 12 exams. The 17-year-old is a student of the Urdu medium Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya No. 2 near Jama Masjid. She scored 97.6% in the Class 12 examinations the results of which were declared on Thursday. Sana's father works at the famous Al Jawahar restaurant
Sana is the fourth of her sisters to complete Class-12 from the Urdu medium school; she also has a younger sister, a Class-9 student in the same school. The four sisters are the first in their family to complete Class-12. Sana's father is a cook at Matia Mahal's Al Jawahar restaurant while her mother is a housewife; both her parents stopped studying after Class-8.
Sana wants to prepare for the Civil Services Examination
Sana said that she never attended tuition classes, adding it was her sisters who cleared her doubts after school. Her subjects in Class-12 were History, Political Science, Home Science, English, and Urdu. She wants to pursue the Bachelor of Arts (BA) program at St. Stephen's College of the Delhi University. "...I also want to prepare for the Civil Services exams," the topper said.
Father initially not in favor our education, says Sana's sister
"Our father was initially not in favor of us even studying till Class-12. But it is our mother who insisted we study and continued to push for us to go to college," said Sana's Ilma. "Our relatives tell our mother that girls should not study so much... No girl in the gullies around us has gone to college," said Ikra, another sister of Sana.

Sana's mother, Asma Parveen, said: "I have been blessed with five daughters...I have always been very clear that their education is most important to me. Our relatives are shocked that I haven't taught them how to do housework...I want them to focus on their studies."

Sana said, "I've always been consistent with my studies. I would study every day after returning home from school." "While studying for the board exams, I made a proper schedule—I would study for two hours, and then take an hour-long break to refresh myself," she added. She also said that her teachers were always ready to help her in the preparation.
