Businessman stabbed to death for protesting vulgar remarks against daughter
Taking action against the harassers of her daughter proved costly to a 52-year-old businessman in New Delhi. The businessman Dhruv Raj Tyagi, went to the house of Shamsher Alam, who passed lewd comments on his daughter. Instead of addressing his concerns, Alam and his father Jehangir stabbed him. Tyagi succumbed to the injuries, police said on Monday. Here's what happened.
Tyagi was returning from clinic when his daughter was harassed
The incident took place in New Delhi's Moti Nagar on Saturday night. Tyagi took his 24-year-old daughter to doctor as she was suffering from migraine. While they were returning home, a couple of boys in the area passed lewd comments at Tyagi's daughter and also made gestures. Thereafter, he dropped his daughter home and along with his 19-year-old son, Anmol went to accused's house.
Rather than listening to complaints, Alam's father fought with Tyagi
When Tyagi went to Alam's home, Jehangir got into a verbal spat with him. Soon, Alam and his friends came and started beating Tyagi and Anmol. They rained blows on the father-son duo and stabbed them. The victims were rushed to a private hospital. Tyagi suffered three fatal wounds in his liver, kidney, and intestines. He died of heart failure due to severe bleeding.
Tyagi's nephew revealed the boys had misbehaved earlier too
"This was not the first time the youths had misbehaved. My uncle had decided to end it once and for all by complaining to their parents, hoping that this would change their behavior," said Tyagi's nephew Amit.
After stabbing them, accused went to 'complain' to police
Another nephew of Tyagi, Yash, said that none of the onlookers stepped up to help him and Anmol. In fact, after stabbing the duo, Alam and Jehangir went to the cops. The accused 'complained' that the victims misbehaved with their family. But when police officers reached the site and questioned witnesses, the picture became clearer. Alam and Jehangir then tried to flee.
Earlier, Alam was arrested in attempt-to-murder case
After Alam and Jehangir were arrested, they revealed that two more people were also involved in the attack. Both of them are juveniles and have been apprehended. An investigation revealed that Alam was earlier jailed in an attempt-to-murder case. He was also involved in minor cases of assault in the area. Tyagi's body was handed over to his family after autopsy.
