13-year-old boy playing cricket electrocuted to death in Delhi
A 13-year-old boy was electrocuted to death at a cricket ground in Ranhola, an area in outer Delhi, on Saturday. The incident occurred when the boy came into contact with an iron pole carrying an electric wire while retrieving a ball during the game. According to the Delhi Police, they received a PCR call around 1:30pm alerting them of the incident. The boy was immediately rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital by a PCR van.
Boy was declared dead at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital
However, hospital authorities declared him dead upon arrival. Following the incident, an FIR under Section 106(1) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered and an investigation has been initiated by the police. Delhi witnessed another electrocution incident three weeks ago
The tragic event follows another electrocution incident in Delhi three weeks prior, where a 26-year-old civil service aspirant named Nilesh Rai lost his life near the Patel Nagar metro station. The incidents occurred amidst heavy to moderate rainfall in parts of Delhi-NCR for two consecutive days, causing waterlogging and massive traffic jams on Saturday. He was electrocuted to death after coming into contact with an iron gate that had electricity running through it because a naked wire was touching it.
