Bus rams into parked truck on Mumbai-Pune Expressway, 28 injured
A horrific accident took place on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Khopoli in Maharashtra at around 4:00am on Saturday. A private passenger bus heading from Kolhapur to Mumbai rammed into a stationary truck, injuring 28 people, eight of whom are critical, TOI reported. The injured were rushed to MGM Hospital at Kamothe for treatment. Those critically injured in the Mumbai-Pune Expressway accident were later shifted to Mumbai for further treatment.
Critical patients transferred, police investigate accident cause
Local police and emergency services, including Borghat, Khopoli, IRB, Devadoot and Traffic Police, aided in the rescue. A police official said, "The private bus...rammed into the stationary truck. The accident occurred as the driver of the bus apparently lost control over the steering." Khopoli police are investigating what led to this tragic incident.
