UP: Man dies, 100 injured in bee attack at university
What's the story
A 74-year-old man died after he was attacked by a swarm of bees at Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) campus in Meerut.
The deceased, identified as Dharam Veer Sharma, was attacked during his evening walk and was brought dead to Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College (LLRM).
The incident also injured over 100 students and visitors in a span of 24 hours.

University responds to bee attack incident
CCSU Registrar Dhirendra Kumar confirmed that the university has contacted a bee-catching team following the incident.
"We have spoken to the bee-catching team and we will soon remove all the beehives so that such incidents do not happen again," he said.
The decision comes amid growing concerns over increasing beehive numbers on campus.
Investigation underway
Post-mortem conducted, no formal complaints filed yet
Sheelesh Yadav, SHO of the medical police station, confirmed a post-mortem was conducted on Sharma's body and they are currently awaiting the reports.
Despite the severity of the incident, no formal complaints have been filed yet.
Meanwhile, student leader Vineet Chaprana urged CCSU to take up responsibility and ensure such incidents do not take place in the future.

Students recount terrifying bee attack
Anuj Panwar, a CCSU student who was among those injured in the bee attack, recounted the terrifying ordeal.
"The bees came abruptly and attacked us. I somehow managed to escape," he said.
This incident has raised concerns about safety measures on campus, especially since Chaprana claimed similar attacks had happened before.
