Delhi: Minor student kidnapped from school-bus amid tight security
The capital is under a strict security cover due to the ASEAN Summit, Republic Day and Padmaavat protests. But criminals still managed to stage a daring kidnapping in broad daylight. Two bike-borne assailants intercepted a school bus near Vivekanand School in Dilshad Gardens, shoot at the driver and escape with a Class 1 student. Police have now launched a manhunt, say reports.

The incident took place at 8am this morning, when the bus was near Vivekanand School close to GTB Enclave. Witnesses said the men wearing helmets came on a black bike and stopped the bus. When the driver resisted, they shot him. They then entered the bus, grabbed the boy in front of his sister and about 20 others, and escaped, reportedly towards Uttar Pradesh.
Police probing role of insiders
No ransom call was made till 10am, police said. An FIR has been registered. "We are probing the role of insiders as the kidnappers were aware about the child's routine and they also kidnapped the boy, not the girl," an officer said.
