MP: Dalit man whipped 100 times for asking salary hike
In yet another barbaric incident of primitive, caste-based violence in India, a Dalit man from Madhya Pradesh was tied to a petrol pump and whipped 100 times with a belt for asking for a salary hike. The incident took place on June 23, but came to light only after a video went viral on social media. The perpetrators have now been arrested.

The victim had asked for a Rs. 2,000 salary hike
The incident took place in the city of Hoshangabad. The victim, Ajay Ahirwar, was a worker at a local petrol pump, and had asked for his salary to be increased from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000 per month. The outlet's managers, Deepak Sahu and Aakash Sahu, refused, following which Ajay didn't turn up for work on June 22. Then, barbarity followed.
Details of the barbaric incident
After Ajay didn't report for work, he was sent for. When Ajay was brought to the petrol pump, he was tied to the petrol pump machine and mercilessly whipped at least a 100 times with a belt. Ajay had not lodged a complaint initially out of fear, but after the video went viral, he was convinced to do so by a local Dalit organization.
