Delhi rains, strong winds provide welcome relief from sweltering heat
Light rain and gusty winds brought with themselves short reprieve for the residents of Delhi on Tuesday. The evening dust storm provided relief from the scorching temperatures, which had peaked at an uncomfortable 35 degrees Celsius earlier in the afternoon. According to reports, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had previously forecast this weather change, suggesting that the weather would cool in the city due to expected rainfall.
Relief is temporary, temperatures could rise soon: IMD
The relief, however, will be temporary, IMD said. "In Delhi, the temperature is expected to remain around 38 degrees Celsius in the coming 2-3 days. After this, it may increase slowly by 1-2 degrees," the weather department added. Notably, on Tuesday, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 22.6 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of the year.
