UP: Jealous cousins rape Class-VIII student for topping exams
In a horrifying incident, a Class-VIII student was allegedly drugged and gang-raped by four of her cousins on a government school campus in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. Reportedly, a teacher was also involved in the sexual assault and the five accused also filmed the heinous act. A probe revealed that the crime was committed because the cousins were jealous of the victim excelling in studies.
Cousins laced girl's food with sedatives; raped her during recess
Reportedly, the girl (16) was gang-raped several times during recess at the government school in Maholi thana area of Sitapur by her cousins, who were her seniors at the same school. The cousins would ask her to have lunch with them and serve her food laced with sedatives in the staff room, IANS reported. Thereafter, the cousins would gangrape the girl, who remained oblivious.
Victim was told she fainted on the playground, say police
Speaking to IANS, Additional Superintendent of Police (North) Madhuvan Kumar Singh said, "Once the girl was sedated, the youths and their teacher took turns to rape her while one of them filmed the act on a mobile phone." Singh added, "When she regained consciousness, she was told she fainted on the playground and was hence, brought to the staff room."
Girl realized she was raped after videos shared among family
Reportedly, the incident only came to light on Friday, when the accused cousins sent video clips of the assault among family members on a WhatsApp group. "[The girl] realized what went on during those times only after the clips were shared," a police officer told The Times of India. Singh told TOI the cousins gang-raped the girl several times over the past two years.
Cousins flunked exams; were jealous of girl, who topped
Parents of the girl registered an FIR against all five accused on Saturday. One accused was arrested while the rest are absconding. A preliminary investigation revealed that they all live in a joint family, and the girl often stood first in class, leaving her cousins, who flunked exams, humiliated. The accused wanted to "cut her to size." The girl's medical report is awaited.
