Rajasthan: Couple jumps before train, escapes with injuries
A 22-year-old-man and his 20-year-old-girlfriend allegedly attempted suicide by jumping before the Jaipur-Mumbai train near Ramganjmandi railway station, police said today. The couple hailing from Chhattisgarh escaped with injuries as the driver halted the speed of the train. The two received head injuries and are undergoing treatment at the Jhalawar Medical Hospital. They are reported to be out of danger.
The couple were walking on tracks as the train approached
The two started walking on tracks near the station yesterday as the train was approaching. When the couple refused to budge from the track despite sirens, the driver broke the speed of the train that had just left the Ramjanjmandi railway station. However, by the time the train halted, the engine had hit the two, SHO Manoj Singh Sikarwar said.
Woman was staying in Kunhari along with her mother: SHO
The woman had been taking coaching for the NEET in an institute in Kota since around one year and was staying along with her mother in a rented accommodation in Kunhari area, the SHO said.
The parents of the two have been informed
The mother of the girl had left for Chhattisgarh a few days ago and following her departure, the man reached here a couple of days ago, the SHO said. Police personnel has been sent to the hospital to record their statements. The parents of the two have also been informed and they are expected to reach here tonight, he added.
