Coronavirus: India's tally reaches 11.38 million with 24K+ new cases
India on Sunday reported more than 25,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 11.38 million cases. Meanwhile, at least 110 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,58,777. Maharashtra, which is the worst-hit state in India, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections. Here are more updates.
Health Ministry confirms 1,13,59,048 COVID-19 cases, 1,58,607 deaths
Till Sunday morning, the Health Ministry had reported 1,13,59,048 COVID-19 cases, including 1,58,607 deaths, 2,10,544 active cases, and 1,09,89,897 recoveries. According to data compiled from state and union territory statistics, India reported 1,13,84,416 cases and 1,58,777 deaths till Sunday night. Over 11 million have recovered since the beginning of the pandemic. 2,97,38,409 people were vaccinated in India till 8 am on Sunday.

Maharashtra: 23,14,413 total cases, 52,861 deaths, 21,34,072 recoveries. Kerala: 10,91,270 total cases, 4,396 deaths, 10,57,097 recoveries. Karnataka: 9,60,272 total cases, 12,390 deaths, 9,39,499 recoveries. Andhra Pradesh: 8,91,861 total cases, 7,184 deaths, 8,83,277 recoveries. Tamil Nadu: 8,58,967 total cases, 12,543 deaths, 8,41,762 recoveries. Delhi: 6,43,696 total cases, 10,941 deaths, 6,30,493 recoveries. Uttar Pradesh: 6,05,290 total cases, 8,746 deaths, 5,94,693 recoveries.
16K new cases in Maharashtra; Kerala reports 1.8K fresh infections
16,620 more people tested positive in Maharashtra with 1,08,381 tests on Sunday. At 15.3%, the state continued to record a high daily positivity rate. Kerala reported 1,792 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 3.5% with 50,565 tests. Madhya Pradesh reported 743 new cases, pushing the tally to 2,68,594, including 3,887 deaths and 2,59,967 recoveries.
Delhi reports 407 more cases; 1.5K fresh infections in Punjab
407 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.6% with 68,223 tests conducted on Sunday. Punjab reported a spike of 1,501 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,97,755. 6,072 patients have died in the state while 1,80,133 have recovered. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh reported 934, 695, 298, and 178 new cases respectively.
