Coronavirus: India's tally reaches 11.33 million with 24K+ new cases
India on Friday reported more than 24,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 11.33 million cases. Meanwhile, at least 140 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,58,502. Maharashtra, which is the worst-hit state in India, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections. Here are more updates.
Health Ministry confirms 1,13,08,846 COVID-19 cases, 1,58,306 deaths
Till Friday morning, the Health Ministry had reported 1,13,08,846 COVID-19 cases, including 1,58,306 deaths, 1,97,237 active cases, and 1,09,53,303 recoveries. According to data compiled from state/UT statistics, India reported 1,13,33,507 cases and 1,58,502 deaths till Friday night. Over 10.97 have recovered. 2,80,05,817 people were vaccinated in India till 8 pm on Friday and a total of 18,40,897 beneficiaries were vaccinated on the day.

Maharashtra: 22,82,191 total cases, 52,723 deaths, 21,17,744 recoveries. Kerala: 10,87,443 total cases, 4,369 deaths, 10,50,603 recoveries. Karnataka: 9,58,417 total cases, 12,386 deaths, 9,37,898 recoveries. Andhra Pradesh: 8,91,388 total cases, 7,180 deaths, 8,82,981 recoveries. Tamil Nadu: 8,58,272 total cases, 12,539 deaths, 8,41,250 recoveries. Delhi: 6,42,870 total cases, 10,936 deaths, 6,29,841 recoveries. Uttar Pradesh: 6,04,959 total cases, 8,743 deaths, 5,94,396 recoveries.
15K new cases in Maharashtra; Kerala reports 1.7K fresh infections
15,817 more people tested positive in Maharashtra with 97,274 tests on Friday. At 16.2%, the state continued to record a high daily positivity rate. Kerala reported 1,780 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 3.4% with 52,134 tests. Madhya Pradesh reported 603 new cases, pushing the tally to 2,67,176, including 3,883 deaths and 2,58,958 recoveries.
Delhi reports 431 more cases; 1.4K fresh infections in Punjab
431 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.6% with 72,031 tests conducted on Friday. Punjab reported a spike of 1,414 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,94,753. 6,030 patients have died in the state while 1,78,271 have recovered. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh reported 833, 670, 210, and 167 new cases respectively.
