Coronavirus: India's tally reaches 11.3 million with 23K+ new cases
India on Thursday reported more than 23,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 11.3 million cases. Meanwhile, at least 110 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,58,362. Maharashtra, which is the worst-hit state in India, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections. Here are more updates.
Health Ministry confirms 1,12,85,561 COVID-19 cases, 1,58,189 deaths
Till Thursday morning, the Health Ministry had reported 1,12,85,561 COVID-19 cases, including 1,58,189 deaths, 1,89,226 active cases, and 1,09,38,146 recoveries. According to data compiled from state/UT statistics, India reported 1,13,09,010 cases and 1,58,362 deaths till Thursday night. Over 10.95 million have recovered. 2,60,73,517 people were vaccinated in India till 7 pm on Thursday and a total of 3,89,337 beneficiaries were vaccinated on the day.

Maharashtra: 22,66,374 total cases, 52,667 deaths, 21,06,400 recoveries. Kerala: 10,86,012 total cases, 4,355 deaths, 10,47,226 recoveries. Karnataka: 9,57,584 total cases, 12,381 deaths, 9,37,353 recoveries. Andhra Pradesh: 8,91,178 total cases, 7,179 deaths, 8,82,841 recoveries. Tamil Nadu: 8,57,602 total cases, 12,535 deaths, 8,40,723 recoveries. Delhi: 6,42,439 total cases, 10,934 deaths, 6,29,485 recoveries. Uttar Pradesh: 6,04,791 total cases, 8,741 deaths, 5,94,308 recoveries.
14K new cases in Maharashtra; Kerala reports 2.1K fresh infections
14,317 more people tested positive in Maharashtra with 97,778 tests on Thursday. At 14.6%, the state continued to record a high daily positivity rate. Kerala reported 2,133 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 3% with 69,838 tests. Madhya Pradesh reported 530 new cases, pushing the tally to 2,66,573, including 3,881 deaths and 2,58,598 recoveries.
Delhi reports 409 more cases; 1.3K fresh infections in Punjab
409 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.58% with 69,810 tests conducted on Thursday. Punjab reported a spike of 1,309 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,93,345. 5,996 patients have died in the state while 1,77,280 have recovered. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh reported 783, 685, 174, and 146 new cases respectively.
