Coronavirus: India's tally reaches 11.28 million with 22K+ new cases
India on Wednesday reported more than 22,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 11.28 million cases. Meanwhile, at least 120 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,58,243. Maharashtra, which is the worst-hit state in India, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections. Here are more updates.
Health Ministry confirms 1,12,62,707 COVID-19 cases, 1,58,063 deaths
Till Wednesday morning, the Health Ministry had reported 1,12,62,707 COVID-19 cases, including 1,58,063 deaths, 1,84,598 active cases, and 1,09,20,046 recoveries. According to data compiled from state/UT statistics, India reported 1,12,85,361 cases and 1,58,243 deaths till Wednesday night. Over 10.93 million have recovered. 2,52,89,693 people were vaccinated in India till 7 pm on Wednesday and a total of 9,22,039 beneficiaries were vaccinated on the day.

Maharashtra: 22,52,057 total cases, 52,610 deaths, 20,99,207 recoveries. Kerala: 10,83,530 total cases, 4,342 deaths, 10,43,473 recoveries. Karnataka: 9,56,801 total cases, 12,379 deaths, 9,36,947 recoveries. Andhra Pradesh: 8,91,004 total cases, 7,177 deaths, 8,82,763 recoveries. Tamil Nadu: 8,56,917 total cases, 12,530 deaths, 8,40,180 recoveries. Delhi: 6,42,030 total cases, 10,931 deaths, 6,29,199 recoveries. Uttar Pradesh: 6,04,648 total cases, 8,740 deaths, 5,94,219 recoveries.
13K new cases in Maharashtra; Kerala reports 2.4K fresh infections
13,659 more people tested positive in Maharashtra with 93,219 tests on Wednesday. At 14.6%, the state continued to record a high daily positivity rate. Kerala reported 2,475 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 3.9% with 62,486 tests. Madhya Pradesh reported 516 new cases, pushing the tally to 2,66,043, including 3,877 deaths and 2,58,251 recoveries.
Delhi reports 370 more cases; 1.4K fresh infections in Punjab
370 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.52% with 71,153 tests conducted on Wednesday. Punjab reported a spike of 1,422 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,92,040. 5,978 patients have died in the state while 1,76,660 have recovered. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh reported 760, 671, 128, and 120 new cases respectively.
