Coronavirus: India's tally reaches 10.83 million with 11K+ new cases
India on Sunday reported more than 11,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 10.83 million cases. Meanwhile, at least 80 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,55,138. Kerala, which is among the worst-hit Indian states, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections. Here are more updates.
Health Ministry confirms 1,08,26,363 COVID-19 cases, 1,54,996 deaths
Till Sunday morning, the Health Ministry reported 1,08,26,363 cases, including 1,54,996 deaths, 1,48,766 active cases, and 1,05,22,601 recoveries. According to data compiled from state/UT statistics, India reported 1,08,38,965 cases and 1,55,138 deaths till Sunday night. Over 10.53 million have recovered. Meanwhile, 58,03,617 people have been vaccinated in India till 6:40 pm on Sunday and a total of 28,059 beneficiaries were vaccinated on the day.
How India's worst-hit states fared on Sunday
Maharashtra: 20,44,071 total cases, 51,310 deaths, 19,55,548 recoveries. Kerala: 9,68,438 total cases, 3,867 deaths, 8,96,668 recoveries. Karnataka: 9,42,518 total cases, 12,236 deaths, 9,24,304 recoveries. Andhra Pradesh: 8,88,423 total cases, 7,159 deaths, 8,80,261 recoveries. Tamil Nadu: 8,41,797 total cases, 12,383 deaths, 8,25,025 recoveries. Delhi: 6,36,035 total cases, 10,879 deaths, 6,24,044 recoveries. Uttar Pradesh: 6,01,385 total cases, 8,687 deaths, 5,88,818 recoveries.
6K new cases in Kerala; Maharashtra reports 2.6K fresh infections
Kerala reported 6,075 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 9.2% with 65,517 tests. The Centre has asked states to limit the positivity rate under 5%. 2,673 more people tested positive in Maharashtra, marking a daily positivity rate of 5.4% with 49,553 tests. In Chhattisgarh, daily infections stood at 186. The tally has climbed to 3,07,525, including 3,741 deaths and 2,99,494 recoveries.
Delhi reports 119 more cases; 193 fresh infections in Bengal
119 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.22% with 54,247 tests conducted on Sunday. West Bengal reported a spike of 193 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 5,71,371. 10,207 patients have died in the state while 5,56,370 have recovered. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh reported 487, 471, 113, and 73 new cases respectively.
