Coronavirus: India's tally reaches 10.81 million with 11K+ new cases
India on Friday reported over 11,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 10.81 million cases. Meanwhile, at least 90 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,54,977. Kerala, which is among the worst-hit Indian states, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections. Here are more updates.
Health Ministry confirms 1,08,02,591 COVID-19 cases, 1,54,823 deaths
Till Friday morning, the Health Ministry reported 1,08,02,591 cases, including 1,54,823 deaths, 1,51,460 active cases, and 1,04,96,308 recoveries. According to data compiled from state/UT statistics, India reported 1,08,15,125 cases and 1,54,977 deaths till Friday night. Over 10.5 million have recovered. 52,90,474 people have been vaccinated. The Ministry said there's no evidence that the 22 deaths that occurred after vaccination were caused by the vaccine.

Maharashtra: 20,38,630 total cases, 51,255 deaths, 19,52,187 recoveries. Kerala: 9,56,421 total cases, 3,832 deaths, 8,84,542 recoveries. Karnataka: 9,41,500 total cases, 12,230 deaths, 9,23,377 recoveries. Andhra Pradesh: 8,88,275 total cases, 7,158 deaths, 8,80,046 recoveries. Tamil Nadu: 8,40,849 total cases, 12,379 deaths, 8,24,024 recoveries. Delhi: 6,35,793 total cases, 10,873 deaths, 6,23,714 recoveries. Uttar Pradesh: 6,01,128 total cases, 8,682 deaths, 5,87,984 recoveries.
5.6K new cases in Kerala; Maharashtra reports 2.6K fresh infections
Kerala reported 5,610 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 6.1% with 91,931 tests. The Centre has asked states to limit the positivity rate under 5%. 2,628 more people tested positive in Maharashtra, marking a daily positivity rate of 4.8% with 54,072 tests. In Chhattisgarh, daily infections stood at 336. The tally has climbed to 3,07,079, including 3,732 deaths and 2,98,987 recoveries.
Delhi reports 154 more cases; 194 fresh infections in Bengal
154 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.25% with 59,964 tests conducted on Friday. West Bengal reported a spike of 194 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 5,70,981. 10,201 patients have died in the state while 5,55,788 have recovered. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh reported 489, 430, 163, and 97 new cases respectively.
