Coronavirus: India's tally crosses 10.8 million with 12K+ new cases
India on Thursday reported over 12,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 10.8 million cases. Meanwhile, at least 120 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,54,883. Kerala, which is among the worst-hit Indian states, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections. Here are more updates.
Health Ministry confirms 1,07,90,183 COVID-19 cases, 1,54,703 deaths
Till Thursday morning, the Health Ministry reported 1,07,90,183 cases, including 1,54,703 deaths, 1,55,025 active cases, and 1,04,80,455 recoveries. According to data compiled from state/UT statistics, India reported 1,08,03,427 cases and 1,54,883 deaths till Thursday night. Over 10.49 million have recovered. 44,49,552 people have been vaccinated. The Ministry said there's no evidence that the 19 deaths that occurred after vaccination were caused by the vaccine.

Maharashtra: 20,36,002 total cases, 51,215 deaths, 19,48,674 recoveries. Kerala: 9,50,811 total cases, 3,813 deaths, 8,77,889 recoveries. Karnataka: 9,41,070 total cases, 12,227 deaths, 9,22,907 recoveries. Andhra Pradesh: 8,88,178 total cases, 7,157 deaths, 8,79,867 recoveries. Tamil Nadu: 8,40,360 total cases, 12,375 deaths, 8,23,518 recoveries. Delhi: 6,35,639 total cases, 10,871 deaths, 6,23,574 recoveries. Uttar Pradesh: 6,00,970 total cases, 8,680 deaths, 5,87,661 recoveries.
6.1K new cases in Kerala; Maharashtra reports 2.7K fresh infections
Kerala reported 6,102 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 7.2% with 84,007 tests. The Centre has asked states to limit the positivity rate under 5%. 2,736 more people tested positive in Maharashtra, marking a daily positivity rate of 4.8% with 56,817 tests. In Chhattisgarh, daily infections stood at 373. The tally has climbed to 3,06,743, including 3,724 deaths and 2,98,724 recoveries.
Delhi reports 158 more cases; 206 fresh infections in Bengal
158 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.23% with 67,234 tests conducted on Thursday. West Bengal reported a spike of 206 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 5,70,787. 10,199 patients have died in the state while 5,55,491 have recovered. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh reported 494, 474, 169, and 79 new cases respectively.
