Coronavirus: India's tally reaches 10.92 million with 9K+ new cases
India on Monday reported more than 9,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 10.92 million cases. Meanwhile, at least 80 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,55,870. Kerala, which is among the worst-hit Indian states, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections. Here are more updates.
Health Ministry confirms 1,09,16,589 COVID-19 cases, 1,55,732 deaths
Till Monday morning, the Health Ministry had reported 1,09,16,589 cases, including 1,55,732 deaths, 1,39,637 active cases, and 1,06,21,220 recoveries. According to data compiled from state/UT statistics, India reported 1,09,25,578 cases and 1,55,870 deaths till Monday night. Over 10.63 million have recovered. Meanwhile, 85,16,385 people were vaccinated in India till 6 pm on Monday and a total of 2,31,476 beneficiaries were vaccinated on the day.
How India's worst-hit states fared on Monday
Maharashtra: 20,67,643 total cases, 51,552 deaths, 19,78,708 recoveries. Kerala: 10,07,019 total cases, 3,998 deaths, 9,41,471 recoveries. Karnataka: 9,45,638 total cases, 12,267 deaths, 9,26,664 recoveries. Andhra Pradesh: 8,88,899 total cases, 7,163 deaths, 8,81,041 recoveries. Tamil Nadu: 8,45,575 total cases, 12,425 deaths, 8,28,918 recoveries. Delhi: 6,37,087 total cases, 10,893 deaths, 6,25,158 recoveries. Uttar Pradesh: 6,02,248 total cases, 8,704 deaths, 5,90,570 recoveries.
2.8K new cases in Kerala; Maharashtra reports 3.3K fresh infections
Kerala reported 2,884 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 7.3% with 39,463 tests. The Centre has asked states to limit the positivity rate under 5%. 3,365 more people tested positive in Maharashtra, marking a daily positivity rate of 9% with 37,418 tests. In Chhattisgarh, daily infections stood at 274. The tally has climbed to 3,09,373, including 3,777 deaths and 3,02,557 recoveries.
Delhi reports 141 more cases; 133 fresh infections in Bengal
141 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.36% with 39,065 tests conducted on Monday. West Bengal reported a spike of 133 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 5,72,728. 10,233 patients have died in the state while 5,58,535 have recovered. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh reported 455, 368, 58, and 30 new cases respectively.
