Coronavirus: India's tally reaches 10.89 million with 12K+ new cases
India on Friday reported more than 12,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 10.89 million cases. Meanwhile, at least 100 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,55,609. Kerala, which is among the worst-hit Indian states, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections. Here are more updates.
Health Ministry confirms 1,08,80,603 COVID-19 cases, 1,55,447 deaths
Till Friday morning, the Health Ministry had reported 1,08,80,603 cases, including 1,55,447 deaths, 1,35,926 active cases, and 1,05,89,230 recoveries. According to data compiled from state/UT statistics, India reported 1,08,92,894 cases and 1,55,609 deaths till Friday night. Nearly 10.6 million have recovered. 77,66,319 people have been vaccinated in India till 6 pm on Friday and a total of 2,61,309 beneficiaries were vaccinated on the day.

Maharashtra: 20,56,575 total cases, 51,451 deaths, 19,72,475 recoveries. Kerala: 9,94,052 total cases, 3,954 deaths, 9,25,871 recoveries. Karnataka: 9,44,437 total cases, 12,259 deaths, 9,26,234 recoveries. Andhra Pradesh: 8,88,760 total cases, 7,162 deaths, 8,80,784 recoveries. Tamil Nadu: 8,44,173 total cases, 12,408 deaths, 8,27,480 recoveries. Delhi: 6,36,670 total cases, 10,889 deaths, 6,24,728 recoveries. Uttar Pradesh: 6,02,001 total cases, 8,698 deaths, 5,90,071 recoveries.
5.4K new cases in Kerala; Maharashtra reports 3.6K fresh infections
Kerala reported 5,397 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 7.2% with 74,408 tests. The Centre has asked states to limit the positivity rate under 5%. 3,670 more people tested positive in Maharashtra, marking a daily positivity rate of 6.6% with 55,635 tests. In Chhattisgarh, daily infections stood at 229. The tally has climbed to 3,08,701, including 3,766 deaths and 3,01,648 recoveries.
Delhi reports 141 more cases; 188 fresh infections in Bengal
141 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.22% with 63,022 tests conducted on Friday. West Bengal reported a spike of 188 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 5,72,220. 10,229 patients have died in the state while 5,57,758 have recovered. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh reported 483, 380, 112, and 68 new cases respectively
