File complaint after you get raped: UP cops tell woman
In another shocker from Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district, a woman has said that the police refused to file her complaint of an attempt to rape since she "hadn't been raped yet." The woman, who hails from Hindupur village, said on Saturday that the police told her to return with her complaint when she gets raped. Here's more on what happened.
3 men allegedly tried to rape woman months ago
According to India Today, the woman alleged that a group of three men from the village attempted to rape her a few months ago. The woman said, "I was going to take my medicines. They stopped me and started pulling my clothes. They also attempted to rape me." She identified the accused as Ram Milan, Guddu, Ram Babu.
It's been 3 months; no one filed complaint, alleges woman
For the last three months, the woman said she has been visiting the Unnao police station and the Bihar police station. However, no complaint has been filed, she said. The police allegedly asked her to leave when she approached them with the complaint since she hadn't been raped. She also claimed that the accused come to her home every day to threaten her.
'I called 1090. I called 100. I went to cops'
The woman said, "After the incident, I called 1090 (women's helpline), they asked me to call 100 (police emergency service). I called 100. When I reported the matter in Unnao, the cops asked me to report it to the area where the incident happened."
You haven't been raped yet: Woman allegedly told
The woman said, "The police told me, 'They have only attempted to rape you, but you haven't been raped yet.' If I get 'justice' after I have been raped, what kind of justice is that?" However, Inspector-General of Police, Lucknow Range, SK Bhagat, said, "No one has come to me, I have been sitting here since morning."

Notably, Unnao is in news for all the wrong reasons, these days. On Thursday, a woman who had filed a case of rape against two men in March was burnt alive allegedly by the two men and three of their accomplices. The incident took place in the same Hindupur village. She suffered 90% burns and died during treatment in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.
