Dhanbad-bound Kisan Express train splits into 2 in UP
At least 10 bogies of the Kisan Express train headed for Dhanbad got disconnected near Chakraj Mal area in Uttar Pradesh, officials said. The train (13308 Firozpur-Dhanbad) was carrying approximately 1,600 passengers, including 150 candidates for the Uttar Pradesh police constable recruitment exam. The separation occurred near Raipur village, between Chakrajmal and Seohara railway stations at around 3:50am on Sunday.
Train continued journey with eight coaches
The Kisan Express, traveling at a speed of approximately 50km/h, proceeded to Seohara station with eight coaches. The remaining 13 coaches were left behind after the separation. This unexpected incident caused panic among passengers but no injuries were reported. Both railway rescue team and local law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation and ensure passenger safety.
Cause of separation and passenger evacuation
A railway official attributed the incident to a failure in the coupler of the ninth sleeper coach, which led to the train splitting into two parts. Superintendent of Police (East Bijnor), Dharm Singh Marchal, expressed relief that no passengers were injured. He noted that around 150 aspirants headed to Moradabad and Bareilly for constable exam were anxious about reaching their destinations on time.

UPSRTC arranges busses for exam aspirants
To address the concerns of the exam aspirants, UPSRTC quickly arranged four buses to take them to their examination centers. The railway rescue team detached the affected sleeper carriage and reconnected the other coaches. The train resumed its journey from Seohara toward Dhanbad following a thorough examination of all coaches at 7:35am.
