CISF gets 'best airport security award for Delhi's IGI Airport
The Central Industrial Security Force has been named the 'best airport security' by the World Quality Congress for its services at the Delhi Airport. This is the first time a paramilitary force was recognized for the honor. WQC has always awarded private companies. This comes three months after the Airport Council International rated Delhi Airport's security higher than Dallas, Dubai, Heathrow, LA and Paris.
CISF has recently brought about many developments in security
The CISF is responsible for security at 59 Indian airports. About 5,000 of its personnel are deployed at Delhi's IGIA. Some recent steps to improve services include ending of stamping of hand baggage and use of technology for different operations. It has also successfully tracked passengers' missing items and nabbed smugglers. Sources say busy CISF personnel often have to go without food or water.
Award ceremony on July 6-7 in Mumbai
The Mumbai-based not-for-profit WCQ aims to make "work and working lives better". It will present the award to the CISF at Mumbai's Taj Lands End during its annual event on July 6-7.
