BJP leader Chinmayanand tore survivor's clothes when she resisted him
In the Chinmayanand rape case, fresh shocking claims related to the abuse have surfaced, and they are enough to hang the nation's head in shame. As per reports, the 72-year-old former Union Minister used to tear the clothes of the 23-year-old student whenever she resisted his sexual advances. She has alleged he raped her for nearly a year. Here are more details.
Backstory: The politician raped student, forced her to give massages
The Chinmayanand case is one of the most shameful incidents to rock India. The "erstwhile" BJP leader, who runs college in Shahjahanpur, assaulted a student, who went public in August. Last month, she said he raped her, forced her to give massages and filmed the abuse. In a bid to collect proof, she also started recording the assault using cameras hidden in her specs.
Both survivor and accused are in jail
Shockingly, Chinmayanand was not booked for rape. Further, the SIT, formed to probe the case by Supreme Court, also arrested the survivor for allegedly trying to extort money from him. These cases are now running in parallel, and on Monday a district court denied bails to both of them. District government counsel Anuj Singh said both crimes are grave and have been forensically verified.
People have confirmed she was brought to "Divya Dham"
When Chinmayanand's bail plea was being heard in the court, SIT said four people have confirmed she used to visit "Divya Dham". One of the aforementioned people is the security guard of the leader. The "Divya Dham" is not an educational institution, but the student was brought there nevertheless. According to her, he repeatedly raped her inside a room and asked for massages.
Circumstantial evidence supports her allegations
"In her complaint, the complainant said many times that she was repeatedly raped by Chinmayanand. He used to tear her clothes whenever she refused to submit. There were several circumstantial evidence to support the allegations," Singh told TOI.
While Chinmayanand stayed in AC cabin, survivor was ill-treated
On Monday, the rape-accused was discharged from a Lucknow hospital and sent to Shahjahanpur jail. His health "deteriorated" after being arrested. Reportedly, he was kept in a private cabin of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI). All cabins of the medical facility are air-conditioned. Meanwhile, the survivor was allegedly ill-treated in jail, said CPM leader Subhashini Ali, who met her on Thursday.
Earlier, government didn't "allow" Congress to carry out protest march
The way Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath handled the case, miffed the opposition and nation alike. Yesterday, Congress planned to take out a march from Shahjahanpur to Lucknow to express solidarity towards her, but the administration didn't give permission. In fact, some leaders were detained and many workers were dragged by police. In Yogi Raj, you can neither complain about rape nor protest against it!
