Russian in Chennai for DefExpo dies while swimming in sea
A 55-year-old Russian national, who was in Chennai to take part in the DefExpo 2018, died today after he went for a swim in the sea at Mamallapuram, about 55km from Chennai, police said. Igor Makarov, part of a Russian delegation, went for the swim along with two of his colleagues. He was reported missing in the waters and a lifeguard brought him ashore.
Cause of death will be confirmed after post-mortem: Police
The Russian was taken to a hospital on the East Coast Road, where he was declared brought dead, police said. The death of Makarov may be caused due to drowning, a police official said, but the exact cause can only be confirmed after post-mortem. Makarov and his colleagues had checked in at a resort in Mamallapuram on April 8, police said.
