#Elections2019: Didn't register as voter? You might still have chance
India is the world's largest democracy where "voting" is crucial in shaping the country's destiny. This year, India goes to polls to elect the 17th Lok Sabha from 11 April-19 May. Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim would also be held simultaneously. Eligible "new" voters, who haven't registered, might still have a chance. Check the last date for your constituency.
New voter registration can still be done, according to NVSP
According to the National Voters' Service Portal (NVSP), the last date for new voter registration is 10 days before the last date of the candidate nomination. The NVSP website says, "Deletion and Modification shall not be processed after 20/03/2019. However, addition will continue till the last date of nomination. Application for addition should be submitted at most 10 days before last date of nomination."
Phase-I polling on 11 April, Phase-II on 18 April
2019 Lok Sabha polls would be conducted in seven phases; Phase-I on 11 April and Phase-II on 18 April. For Parliamentary constituencies where polling will be held under Phase-I and Phase-II, the last date for candidate nomination is 25 March and 26 March, respectively. Since new voter registration can be done 10 days before nomination closes, those from Phase-I/Phase-II constituencies cannot register anymore.
Major cities where new voter registration might be open
Some major cities in the country (that fall under Phases III-VII of polling) where new voter registration would be open include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Trivandrum, Bhubaneshwar, and Ahmedabad. For constituencies under Phase-V, Phase-VI of polling
