CBSE may announce term-1 results for Classes X, XII soon
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to announce the results of the 2021-22 term-1 board exam for Classes 10, 12 this week. The Class 12 results may be declared on "Wednesday or Thursday," while Class 10 results are likely to be announced "at the end of this week," The Times of India reported quoting a senior CBSE official.
Why does this story matter?
Over 36 lakh students appeared for the term-1 Class 10 and 12 board examinations this year. For the first time, CBSE is conducting board exams in two phases due to COVID-19. While the term-1 exams were conducted during November-December 2021, term-2 exams will be held from April 26. Unlike the term-1 exams, which were in the multiple-choice format, the April exams will be subjective.

CBSE attributed delay to verification process
CBSE had earlier claimed the new format of board exams would help declare the results in about a month. However, CBSE has attributed the delay to the verification process at the regional office level. "This time the optical mark recognition sheets were scanned at school level followed by sending the hard copies to the regional offices...That took more time than anticipated," the official said.
