CBSE 2019: Confused about compartments and improvements? Doubts cleared
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X exams ended last week, and Class XII exams will be over this week. Like every year, this year too students would have doubts and questions regarding the results, compartments and improvement exams. Although CBSE has not released the exact dates for results yet, there are a few answers to frequently asked questions.
Compartments: CBSE provides three attempts to clear failed subject
CBSE provides three attempts to students to clear a compartment, a failed exam. For instance, if a student fails in a subject in the Boards 2019, he/she will be given a chance to retake the exam in July/August 2019, followed by March/April 2020 and lastly, in July/August 2020. If a candidate fails all the attempts or does not appear, they will be considered failed.
Failed in practicals? You've to sit for both practical, theory
In case the candidate fails the exam, they will have to reappear next year to clear the theory paper only. The practical marks are carried forward. However, if the candidate fails practical exam, then they will have to sit for both practical and theory.
Improvement exam for those who aren't satisfied with current marks
For all those students who will not be satisfied with their marks, CBSE has given an option to re-take the exam under improvement category. A candidate can avail this option and re-appear for one or more exams next year to improve their performance. Only the students clearing the exam under vocational scheme have the option to sit for improvement exam for next two years.
CBSE to announce result after evaluation process completes
Further, speculations over result dates have been circulating ever since the wrapping up of Class X boards. However, don't believe in any such rumors till CBSE's notification. The board has confirmed that the announcement of result dates will happen after the paper evaluation is completed.
