JEE-Advanced candidates can appear for online mock tests in May
JEE candidates can now appear for mock Advanced tests at CBSE-affiliated schools before the actual exam in May, a directive from the education board has said. As many as 18,000 schools will open its doors to such candidates. But this facility will only be extended to those who are qualified to write the Advanced exam. The first part, JEE-Main will be conducted in April.
Who can appear for the JEE 2018?
For JEE-2018, the candidate must have been born on or after October 1, 1993. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the limit is October 1, 1988. They must have appeared and qualified in the Class 12 exam in 2016 or 2017 or preparing to appear for it in 2018. Those admitted to IITs before, or who had their admission cancelled, can't appear in the Advanced.
Main to be held in April, Advanced in May
The Main is scheduled for April 8 (pen-paper mode) and April 15-16 (online mode). Admit cards have been released. Only those among the top scorers of Main can attempt the Advanced, subject to reservation. The Advanced will be held on May 20. Registrations will begin on May 2. There will be two exams, one from 9am-12pm and the second from 2-5pm.
Mock tests to familiarize students with new online style
For the first time, the Advanced is going completely online this year. To allow students to familiarize themselves with the pattern and style, IIT Kanpur will hold mock tests between May 1 and 5. In a separate notification issued on Wednesday, the CBSE said the difficulty level of every question paper set in the Main will remain same this year.
