What is the NET?
The NET is essential for those wishing to pursue a career in academics and become college or university lecturers and professors, as well as for selection into the JRF. It is held twice a year. Candidates need to possess at least a Masters degree.
Changes were introduced this time
This time, there were certain changes. While earlier, there were three papers for each subject, this time, they were merged into two. However, the syllabus didn't change. The cutoff age of JRF candidates was raised from 28 to 30 years. According to UGC policy, 6% candidates who obtain minimum marks in aggregate are declared qualified. UGC will issue certificates to these candidates.
From next year, NTA will be responsible for conducting NET
This was the last time CBSE conducted the NET; from the next, it will be conducted by the recently formed National Testing Agency (NTA). And the Board created a record; usually, it declares results within three-four months.
