CBSE allows special-need candidates to use computers, laptops in exam
The CBSE has allowed specially-abled children to write their Class 10 and 12 finals on computers or laptops from this year. For this, children of the special needs category (CWSN) will have to submit a certificate from a qualified medical practitioner or psychological consultant. The CBSE has also offered relief to those wanting readers in the exam. Find all details here.
CBSE allows those with special needs several exemptions
CBSE offers several exemptions to handicapped, visually-impaired, dyslexic, autistic candidates and those suffering from disabilities defined in the Persons With Disabilities Act. They get extra time in exams, have more flexibility in choosing subjects, those with visual impairment are provided question papers with enlarged fonts, and more. Parents need to submit applications to the school. The regional CBSE office will take a final decision.
Rules regarding use of computers/laptops in exams
Extending the list of facilities, CBSE has said that students can bring their own computer/laptop for "typing answers, viewing questions in enlarged fonts and listening to questions." It will have to be duly formatted, with no internet connection, and will be allowed in the exam hall only after thorough inspection. The medical certificate they produce will have to mention why they need a computer/laptop.
Over 7,300 specially-abled children have registered for the 2018 exams
If specially-abled candidates want someone to read the question paper rather than scribe facility, they would be allowed to do so, the CBSE said. This time, 28.24L candidates have registered for the Class 10 and 12 board exams. Of them, 7,356 are differently-abled. For both classes, exams will start on March 5 and end latest by April 13.
