Previous developments in the case
The development comes just days after CBI Director Alok Verma was divested of his powers by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) owing to the tussle between himself and Special Director Rakesh Asthana. For those unaware, Asthana, who himself faces bribery charges, had levelled corruption charges on the CBI boss earlier, alleging that Verma interfered in important investigations.
