The registrations for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 for admissions to major B-Schools of India, including the premiere IIMs began on August 8, 2018, and shall conclude on September 19. The admit cards will be released on October 24, and the exam is scheduled for November 25, 2018. Here's the eligibility criteria, every CAT aspirant must know about, before applying for the exam.
Minimum graduation scores required for different categories
All General and OBC-category applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree, with atleast 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, as awarded by a recognized university or educational institute in India. On the other hand, for all reserved category candidates, such as Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD), a relaxation of 5% is given, reducing the minimum marks requirement to 45%.
Is there any age-limit to appear for CAT exam 2018?
Unlike many major competitive exams in India, there's no age bar to appear for the CAT exam. Candidates of any age are free to apply, as long as they meet the category-wise minimum graduation marks requirement, as stated above.
Category-wise seat reservation in IIMs
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) offer seat reservations as per existing government norms. Notably, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC category), 7.5% for ST category students, 27% for OBC-non creamy layer applicants, and 3% for Persons with Disability (PwD candidates).
