This year, there are two females and three non-engineers in the list. The number of women candidates increased by 1.16% this year to 78,009. Transgender candidates also increased from 22 to 31.
After a seven-year high in 2016, registrations declined this year
Despite extending application dates, the total number of registrations decreased from 2,32,434 in 2016 to 2,31,067 this year. The number of physically challenged applicants also reduced from 921 to 910.
What's next for the successful candidates?
Apart from the 20 IIMs, CAT scores are also accepted by over 100 colleges for admission into their business courses, including the IITs, IISc's, SPJIMR Mumbai, FMS Delhi etc. Based on scores, previous academic performance and work experience, IIMs will now shortlist candidates for a writing test, GD and PI. Interview letters will be sent to the chosen candidates.
