    An Ola cab driver was arrested for allegedly attempting to abduct a woman passenger who was on her way to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, police said.

    Police said Suresh, 28, a resident of Banaswadi, in an inebriated state, picked up the city-based architect from Banaswadi and was supposed to drop her at the airport in early hours of Thursday.

    Driver changed lanes and drove car on Hyderabad route: Police

    As their vehicle neared the airport tollgate, he suddenly changed lanes and drove the car on to the Hyderabad route, police said.

    When she questioned him, Suresh abused her and asked her to keep quiet, police added.

    As the vehicle crossed a toll-plaza, she raised an alarm, which caught the attention of the toll staff, who stopped the vehicle and rescued her, police said.

    Ola's explanation

    Cab involved has been removed from our platform: Ola spokesperson

    "He was drunk when we caught him. He said he couldn't figure out what was happening because he was under alcohol's influence," said SHO of Chikkajala police Station.

    Police verification of the accused wasn't carried out.

    An Ola spokesperson said, "The cab involved has been removed from our platform. We are also engaging with the police to lend assistance in their ongoing investigations."
