In a bizarre incident, a bus driver for the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) was relieved of duty after a video of him driving the bus with a langur perched on the steering wheel went viral on social media.
The incident involving the primate reportedly took place on October 1, when the bus was on its way to Bharamasagara from Davanagere.

The viral video shows the driver - Prakash - allowing the langur to steer the bus. He is also seen petting the langur, and assisting the primate in steering the bus.
As per a KSRTC official, the langur, a regular on the route, boarded the bus with its trainer, made its way to the cockpit, sat on the steering wheel, and refused to leave.

Following the incident, the driver was relieved of duty by the KSRTC for endangering the lives of passengers, and an inquiry has been ordered against him.
Meanwhile, social media is divided on animal-lover Prakash's fate - some believe he should have been let off with a warning; others think he was "crazy" for allowing the langur to be on the steering wheel.
